NERA WORLDPHONE TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS

THE WORLDPHONE DISPLAY DOES NOT LIGHT UP.
The battery may need recharging or replacing.
Is the battery, located underneath the transceiver, inserted properly?
Is the battery shipping tag (yellow) still installed? If so, remove this tag by releasing the battery. This tag should be reinstalled when the WORLDPHONE is not in use.

THE WORLDPHONE CANNOT FIND THE SATELLITE.
Check for the correct position of antenna.
Check that no obstructions block the line of sight between the antenna and satellite.
The signal strength indicator, located in the lower left of display, should read greater than 415.
Check that the antenna's coaxial cable is connected properly.
Be aware that window glass may degrade the signal level.
See page 1.8 in the owners manual.

I CANNOT CALL FROM THE WORLDPHONE.
Check that you are using the correct LES.
Check your dialing string:

From land line phone to WORLDPHONE (011+SAT No.+ WORLDPHONE No.)

From WORLDPHONE to land line phone (001+US Area Code+number+# or CALL)

The above examples indicate calls within the United States, you must access the international line as required for areas outside the US.

From WORLDPHONE to WORLDPHONE (00+SAT No.+ WORLDPHONE No.+ # or CALL)

COMMON QUESTIONS

DOES THE BATTERY STILL CHARGE IF THE POWER IS CONNECTED BUT THE DISPLAY IS OFF?
Yes

WHAT IS AN L.E.S.?
L.E.S. is the abbreviation for Land Earth Station, it is your selected provider station that interconnects your unit to the INMARSAT System.

WILL THE PHONE OPERATE ON EITHER 110 OR 220 VAC?
Yes.

WHAT IS MY PHONE NUMBER?
Your phone number(IMN) is normally programmed into location 981 of the User menu. See page 2.59 of the Owners manual.

WHAT IS A S.I.M. CARD?
Your Subscriber Identity Module carries the subscription information given from your INMARSAT service provider. This module is in a telephone card form and inserted into the slot provided, arrow up and into, on the right side of the WORLDPHONE. This card is not required in all cases but is offered as an option to the customer.

CAN MY S.I.M. CARD WORK WITH ANOTHER WORLDPHONE?
Yes, it assumes the identity of the card holder if the host WORLDPHONE has been programmed to accept S.I.M..

WHAT ARE THE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN WHEN USING THE WORLDPHONE?
Persons should not be near the antenna when transmitting for periods of more than one hour per day.

WHAT ABOUT INTERFERENCE FROM OTHER EQUIPMENT?
A distance of 5 meters is recommended for installations near Communications, Radar, GPS, other Satellite systems,and Radio equipment.
