I AM
USING A ST251 WITH AN EXTENDED ANTENNA BUT THE UNIT WILL NOT TURN ON.

the lid of the transportable unit- the lid activates a microswitch that will
disable the power.

INDICATES 'NO SVC' AND I AM UNABLE TO MAKE A CALL
Check
the upper right indicator labeled 'S' the number to the right should be
greater than 40
Use the antenna positioning map,pg.24 user manual, to determine the proper
position of your antenna.
Insure that you are on the proper beam for your area. Use the beam coverage
area map which is included with your unit.
HOW DO I
CONNECT THE EXTERNAL ANTENNA.
Locate
the 'External Antenna' cover at the rear of the portable unit. Open the cover
and disconnect the internal antenna. Now connect the MITSUBISHI external
antenna. Remember that the lid of the portable unit must be open in order to
operate the unit.
HOW DO I
PLACE A CALL FROM THE UNIT?
Enter the
area code then the desired number ,then press 'SEND'. NOTE: It is not
necessary to use the prefix '1'. When ending the conversation press the 'STO/END'
key

To access the 500 number from a land line phone dial 1-703-716-7712 wait for a
dial tone then call the 500 number in its entirety.
